Bobby Shen

At school, Bobby was well known for his friendly personality. Combined with his enthusiasm and exemplary work ethic, Bobby was tagged as an outstanding student. At the end of high school, he aspired to study and practice architectural design.

At the time that Bobby was awarded a First Foundation Scholarship, Claire Stewart at Chevpac Machinery said, "When we first met Bobby we were impressed with his overall enthusiasm about all aspects of his life - his studies, music, family and volunteer work. For such a young man he seems very clear and realistic about his career aims."

Bobby graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Architectural Studies from The University of Auckland and in 2014 with a Master of Architecture (Professional) with First Class Honours.

Bobby's effervescent personality continues and his passion for both architecture and people is clear. He is currently running for the Puketāpapa Local Board in the upcoming Local Elections to serve the area where he grew up and continues to live in. He has also developed a thriving career in architectural design and currently works at Eclipse Architecture.

He has previously worked at The Phobic Trust where he was the Phone Line Manager for several years where his maturity shone through as he supported people with anxiety disorders. He has also been heavily involved as a volunteer at organisations such as Architecture for Humanity and Rotaract, and as a New Zealand Institute of Architects committee member.

Bobby is also a First Foundation Mentor, giving guidance to a current First Foundation scholar.
