Alby Yap

Malaysian-born, Alby moved to New Zealand with his father and twin brother and despite not being able to speak English when he first arrived, Alby achieved outstanding academic records at school. Alby was "highly regarded by both his peers and his teachers," said his Principal at the time.

Alby has now graduated from Unitec with a Bachelor of Architecture and has worked on a successful charity-based design and build project which gave him the opportunity to travel overseas to work in other countries. He has also won architectural competitions and actively supports and encourages his peers who are starting out on an architectural career path.

In 2009 he graduated a second time with a Masters in Architecture. Alby currently works for major architectural firm Stevenson and Turner and looks forward to building his profile within this job.
