High School believes Beauty Tema has the qualities of a First
Foundation student: 'In the last four and a half years I have seen
Beauty develop considerably in terms of confidence and self esteem.
As a senior student, Beauty's achievement and commitment to
learning has gone from strength to strength.' Beauty is currently
working towards achieving NCEA Level 3, having completed NCEA Level
1 and 2 in 2009.
Beauty is a Prefect and Peer Support leader, and has been part of
the Liggins Education Network for Science Students Mentoring
programme since 2008. In 2008, she was awarded the Silver Crest
Award. Beauty plays Netball and is a member of the school's Samoan
Group.
To her credit, she is a qualified centre badge umpire at AMI
Netball Centre and plays for the Carlton Netball club. In 2009 she
was named 'Referee of the Year.' Beauty wishes to study Optometry
or Health Sciences at the University of Auckland or Auckland
University of Technology (AUT). Beauty will be the first in her
family to complete a tertiary level qualification.
"She is the first one in the family to have the chance to attend a
university. She is keen on helping her Samoan community and
improving their health. She has a warm and friendly nature." -
