Deborah is a young woman with exceptional talent and a strong
academic record. She was the Junior Dux and recipient of a School
Academic Scholarship at Onehunga High School. A self-described
quiet person, Deborah made an effort at school to develop all-round
life skills through involvement in various school groups. Her
involvement included playing table tennis, writing for the school
newspaper and launching a Christian Group within the school.
Deborah's academic skill, all-round talent and solid core values
have been recognised by many and in 2008 she was awarded a NZI
Austin Hemmings Memorial Scholarship through First Foundation. Neil
Carter from NZI said 'Deborah came across as a very genuine,
hardworking young lady. She is willing to put time into achieving
her goals, and we were moved by the tribute to her mum who she sees
as a role model.'
Deborah continues to display her quiet brilliance at a tertiary
level as she studies Health Sciences and Psychology at The
University of Auckland.
