Kristal, an outstanding sportswoman at school, a recognised
leader and a Cook Island dancer was also the first in her family to
pass School Certificate.
When awarded a First Foundation scholarship David Wright, the
General Manager at Avalon Studios, TVNZ, noted that "Kristal has
already shown an ability to adapt and succeed." Pursuing a career
in Tourism, Kristal studied towards a Bachelor of Tourism
Management at Victoria University, which she graduated from in
2007.
Kristal describes her scholarship, as having a flow on effect. "It
gave me the motivation to carry out my studies and experience to
enter the workforce with confidence, skills and intelligence." A
mere 11 months into her first fulltime job with Accor Hotels she
won the NZ Employee of the Year Award.
Once she has finished a stint working at Nancy Greene's Cahilty
Lodge, in Sun Peaks, Canada, Kristal plans to return to the
Southern Hemisphere where she hopes to further her career in the
tourism industry in Brisbane. Her future dreams include one day
investing in a hostel in New Zealand holiday town Queenstown.
