DEPUTY HEAD GIRL, 2010
Masina is a passionate sportswoman and young leader. Her passion
for sports was evident at high school where she played Badminton,
Hockey, Netball, Rugby and Volleyball. On top of playing in these
teams, she captained and managed several trophy winning teams. In
Year 11 she placed 1st in Physical Education.
Her leadership qualities began to show as a Junior Leader in Years
9 and 10 and in her Senior years a Whanau Tuakana (House Leader)
for the Pohutakawa Whanau. At the time that Masina was awarded a
First Foundation Scholarship, her Deputy Principal stated that he
was 'impressed with Masina's enthusiasm and focus, her selfless
nature and her standout leadership skills.' She then went on to be
elected Deputy Head Girl. Masina's confident and outgoing
personality also helped her engage with the wider Porirua
community.
Masina shares a genuine passion for sports with her Scholarship
Partner, NZ Rugby Union. Masina is studying a Bachelor of Health
Science at The University of Otago, a degree which engages her
academic skill and her passion for a balanced wellbeing for herself
and others.
