Megan came highly recommended from her Dean at Hillmorton High
School who describes her as 'a friendly, polite, determined student
who gives 100% in everything she does.' Megan's teachers have
watched as her academic performance has 'grown from
strength-to-strength' and credit her numerous first in class awards
to her 'engaging personality, maturity and strong, determined
character.'Megan has been in the top academic class since Year 9
and has achieved highly across all subjects. In 2009, Megan
achieved NCEA Level 1 endorsed with Merit, with 145 credits, 31 at
excellence level. She was first in class for Year 11 Geography and
Technology.
Megan's academic performance has not hindered her involvement in
extra-curricular activities. She is an avid Netball player and is
the captain of her Netball club's Under 17 A team. She also holds a
part-time position at Fresh Choice Supermarket in Barrington and
babysits in her spare time. Megan's mother works at the special
needs unit at her school and Megan participates in music therapy
session every Friday. She also takes responsibility for one of the
students after school , making sure she gets home safely on the
bus.
Megan enjoys creative writing and finds it a great way to express
her feelings. She is considering Journalism as part of her tertiary
study. She is also fascinated by the human mind - 'The decisions
people make, why they make them and their reactions are what I
would love to learn about, so Psychology could be a relevant career
path.' Due to her experience with special needs students she has
also not ruled out the possiblilty of studying something medically
related.
"Megan is clearly a very talented and committed young lady. I
liked her positive and enthusiastic approach. The energy she
displayed, when we met, demonstrated that she certainly had that
"wow" factor. I am confident that she will be a great fit at
Telecom and that we will thoroughly enjoy having her around." -
