As a sportsman and leader, Pesamino is an outstanding role
model. Born in Samoa, Pesamino has had a challenging upbringing.
Despite the challenges he shows immense gratitude to his
grandparents, who raised him from a young age, and seems determined
to seek a future career that will help him to support his own
family. Melanie Cash from Fonterra Cooperative Group announced at
the 2011 Auckland Awards that "Pesamino has been awarded this
scholarship because he has shown real potential to be a leader and
role model within his community. Pesamino is a reflective and
articulate young man, with strong core values."
At school he sets himself high academic goals and works to achieve
them. He is proud of passing NCEA Level 1 with a Merit endorsement.
On top his academic timetable, Pesamino plays club rugby league and
is also a representative in the Auckland Southern zone.
Pesamino's passion for design, strength in physics and chemistry
and enthusiasm for computing combine to cause him to want to become
a Computer Engineer or an Architect, after study at The University
of Auckland.
