Described as "a quiet and polite young person who works
diligently and conscientiously," by his Principal at Manurewa, this
strong Maori student shows a lot of potential to be a leader in New
Zealand business. At school Ryan's strengths are in History,
Japanese and Science. In 2010 his efforts were rewarded when he
placed 1st in Science at Manurewa High School.
Ryan has developed perseverance, patience, and teamwork skills as
foundations to his hard work ethic. He stated in his application to
become a First Foundation Scholar that he is willing to "give 110%
effort." Ryan's participation in activities in school and outside
of school also reveal aspects of his admirable character. In 2011
Ryan was CEO of his team in the S.E.L.L Programme, for which they
finished 3rd and won the teamwork award. He has also played for the
Manurewa Marlins under 15/16 restricted Rugby League team, put in
additional school hours to enter in the MIT Science fair, and spent
time visiting elderly at the rest home that his Mother works
at.
Ryan hopes to graduate with a degree in Commerce at The University
of Auckland. This budding business man has ambitions of owning his
own home and of running a 100% New Zealand owned and operated
business.
