Scholarship Criteria

First Foundation gives preference to students who are in year 12, will be first in their immediate family to attend university, display leadership qualities, have a proven academic record (endorsed with minimum of Merit), demonstrate resilience and who represent the ethnic diversity of low decile schools.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

Year 12 or 13

Must currently be enrolled at Year 12 or 13* level at a New Zealand secondary school

Income Threshold

Must meet the household income threshold**

Merit or Excellence

Must have achieved an overall Merit or Excellence endorsement in Level 1 (or level 2 for Y13 students)

Status

Must be a New Zealand Citizen, NZ Resident or have Refugee Status

* Please note, there are limited (5%) scholarships available for Year 13 students
** Please check with your careers advisor if you meet our household income threshold


PREFERENCE*

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • First in family, i.e. this means that you have to be first in your immediate family to attend University (75%)
  • Maori and Pacific (75%)
  • Currently enrolled at Year 12 (95%)
  • Overall NCEA Excellence endorsement
  • Passed all NCEA external assessments
  • Leadership and community involvement
  • Willingness to be a part of a mentor relationship
  • Proven positive and hardworking work ethic
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities whilst maintaining high academic grades

*PREFERENCE is given to students who meet ALL or most of our preference list
