"What is striking about Alex is his ability to regularly set himself clear academic goals, both short and long term, while at the same time balancing his extensive co-curricular involvement. As a school, we are incredibly proud of this personable and purposeful young man," said the Principal of Tamaki College.
Alex's all-round talents were displayed in a number of in-school and out-of-school activities. On the sports field, Alex represented Tamaki College in Rugby, Touch and Tag. Proud of his heritage, Alex also played in various Cook Island sporting competitions. He represented the school in Debating and was involved in the Plantation group at Omaru Creek in 2009.
Alex gained his first taste of tertiary education by taking an opportunity with The University of Auckland to be a part of their LENS Programme (Liggins Education Network for Science) in 2009. This afforded him the chance to work alongside a research scientist from the Liggins Institute; an experience which helped to propel him forwards to studying Health Science at The University of Auckland.
Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science in 2015.
