Chris was a strong all-rounder at school. In addition to being Deputy Head Boy, he displayed particular talent in sports and built a profile as a prominent sportsman while attending One Tree Hill College. Having reached age group representative level at Hockey, Chris holds the ambition to one day represent his country as a Black Stick.

At the time of being awarded a First Foundation Scholarship Jenny Baker, Human Resources Advisor at The Laminex Group recognised Chris as "motivated to be the best that he can be both academically and in his sporting pursuits".

Chris completed his First Foundation Scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science from The University of Auckland in 2012.

Chris worked as the Hockey Academy Head Coach and Sports Administrator at One Tree Hill College and then at Auckland Council as the Parks Events Programme Co-ordinator. He is currently Recreation Programme Officer at Curtin University in Perth
