Of Samoan and New Zealand descent, Karly can be described as a committed musician, artist and student with a vibrant attitude and passion for ongoing learning. "Throughout the First Foundation Scholarship I look forward to new and unexpected situations that I can learn from each day," states Karly. "She is an extremely impressive young woman mature beyond her years and with a formidable intellect. She has been one of the top students in her year since her arrival at Linwood College in 2008," said her music teacher at the time of her application

This reliable and honest worker is involved in a range of activities namely as a leader in the Orchestra, House Leader, Student Council, Bus Monitor and outside of school tutoring for a Korean student. Being a proficient musician, Karly was delighted to travel with her school orchestra on a Phoenix tour to Europe in 2010. The previous year she was awarded the Egerton Music trophy by her school.

Karly sets high academic standards for herself and aims to study at the University of Canterbury in subjects that interest her such as Music, Chemistry, History and English.
