Apart from her excellent academic record, Kate participated in many activities inside and outside of school; she was the lead speaker for the Rotary Debating Team and Captain of the Girls 1st XI Cricket Team. Her involvement in the North Shore Youth Council led to her being chosen as one of three Auckland school girls to attend the National Business Women's Conference.
Since completing a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Political Studies at The University of Auckland and then worked in the East Coast Bays electorate office for the Hon Murray McCully. She loves working with people from the community and helping them to access the resources that are available to them. A definite highlight of 2010 was going overseas to visit Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for a bit of life experience!
Kate has been living in Melbourne working for PGG Wrightson Seeds for the last three years. She was Executive Assistant to the business unit managers and then to the GM and HR admin. She has managed to do a bit of travelling to Canada and Europe.
Kate has also volunteered for a programme called SAIL which is a refugee settlement programme in her local area dedicated to helping Sudanese refugees settle into the community through English language tutoring.
Kate is currently Operations Coordinator - African-Australain Inclusion programme for the Jesuit Social Services Ltd.
