"We were impressed with Leata's quiet confidence; her desire to progress as far as she can with her education," said Tracey Kay, ION's Human Resources Advisor upon awarding Leata a First Foundation scholarship. Leata has always expressed her desire to give out to others and while still at school, Leata determined to go on to study in the area of Medicine.
In 2010 she graduated from The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Nursing and subsequently with a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Sciences in 2011.
Leata graduated from her Masters in Advanced Nursing in September 2013. During her training she worked in Cardiology, Pathology and Emergency units at Middlemore Hospital in Auckland. Leata's dedication to her studies saw her profiled by The University of Auckland as a high achieving Pacific Island student. Leata worked in Brisbane before returning to New Zealand at the of 2013 and is currently working as a Public Health Nurse for Kids First in Otara.
