The Principal of One Tree Hill College is confident that Lielt will make the most of her opportunities through the First Foundation: 'Lielt is a fine young woman and the high level of engagement in her work emphasises her determination and desire to succeed.' Lielt was born in Ethiopia and moved to New Zealand in October of 2007. Regardless of the language barrier she has completed Years 10 and 11 with success. She gained 159 credits at NCEA Level 1, 38 at Merit level.
In addition, Lielt participated in many facets of the school outside the classroom. She was a member of the Interact club, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Program, the Fijian cultural dance group, the Basketball and Touch teams and was second place in the school Cross Country. Lielt was part of the Gateway Program for Science and volunteers at the Refugee and Migrant Services as a translator. In her spare time she worked at Pita Bakery House and a part time actress and model with an agency.
Orginally Lielt wished to become a Pharmacist through study at the University of Auckland or the University of Otago and started a bachelor of Health Science but changed to a Bachelor of Physiotherapy which she completed end of 2016. She si currently working in Dunedin.
