Megan came highly recommended from her Dean at Hillmorton High School who describes her as 'a friendly, polite, determined student who gives 100% in everything she does.' Megan's teachers have watched as her academic performance has 'grown from strength-to-strength' and credit her numerous first in class awards to her 'engaging personality, maturity and strong, determined character.'Megan has been in the top academic class since Year 9 and has achieved highly across all subjects. In 2009, Megan achieved NCEA Level 1 endorsed with Merit, with 145 credits, 31 at excellence level. She was first in class for Year 11 Geography and Technology.

Megan's academic performance did not hinder her involvement in extra-curricular activities. She was an avid Netball player and captain of her Netball club's Under 17 A team. She also held a part-time position at a Supermarket in Barrington and babysat in her spare time. Megan's mother worked at the special needs unit at her school and Megan participated in music therapy session every Friday. She also took responsibility for one of the students after school , making sure she got home safely on the bus.

Megan enjoys creative writing and finds it a great way to express her feelings. She is also fascinated by the human mind - 'The decisions people make, why they make them and their reactions are what I would love to learn about.

In Decemeber 2014 Megan completed a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary) from University of Canterbury and is a Primary Teacher in Christchurch.
