At school Sarah developed her political and social awareness through attending Youth Parliament as a member of the Young Greens and as co-leader for her school's Amnesty International group. Sarah's other activites included Saxophone, Soccer and Tramping. "In each of these I have demonstrated maturity, responsibility, and commitment to the team," writes Sarah at the time of applying to become a First Foundation Scholar.

Sarah's ambition is to train as a nurse through Manukau Institute of Technology, Auckland. She started there in 2012. "I am at ease cross culturally and enjoy relating to people who are from diverse backgrounds," states Sarah. This young woman's desire to help other people is strong.

Sarah completed a Bachelor of Nursing at the end of 2014 and is currently nursing in a Medical Specialities Ward at Starship Hospital and doing a post graduate certificate at AUT University.
