When awarded the Merit Cup for Top Academic Girl in Yr 11, Sarah was highlighted as an impressive student with strong integrity, commitment and leadership qualities. These qualities and Sarah's entrepreneurial skills were soundly demonstrated throughout secondary school and Sarah's aspirations were to capitalise on her interest in Business Studies by studying it at university.
Her Scholarship Partner Ford New Zealand supported her in this endeavour. "The team at Ford Motor Company was drawn to Sarah's confident and outgoing nature, articulate manner and her obvious desire to succeed" said Peter McDonald, Information Technology Manager at Ford Motor Company when awarding Sarah a First Foundation Scholarship.
Sarah studied at The University of Auckland towards a conjoint degree in Commerce and Arts specialising in Statistics and Accounting. She then continued her studies and graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) in 2010. She was part of the founding team of SavY, a student run charitable organisation which provides financial literacy workshops to participating secondary schools. She continues to support SavY as a trustee on the board.
In 2011 Sarah spent a year in China as a Resource Development Coordinator with Beijing Nanbeixing Culture Development where she developed a play based learning English curriculum. She returned in 2012 to a graduate job with Deloitte and is currently at the Bank of New Zealand in the Financial Control team.
In 2015 Sarah won a Rotary Young-Person Leadership Award (RYLA) and attended a week long live-in experiential leadership development programme.
