"I am New Zealand born Maori, the last of my family and possibly the only sibling to gain a brighter future by furthering my education," Shavon, one of the inaugural Glenn Family Foundation Scholars, states. This community-minded, hardworking student will be making history in her family by attending university and gaining a degree.
Alongside her studies at school, Shavon was a Peer Support leader, a leader of a social action group, and part of a conservation group. Outside of school she liked to dance and was part of Sacre and Bounce, both Auckland-based dance projects. She also enjoys League.
This young woman, who had the highest GPA in her NCEA Level in 2012, will complete the work experience element of her scholarship with Accor.
"With this scholarship it will help me not only with me future but those I come into contact with. So whether it is a sprint of a marathon my goal is to make it further and attend university."
Shavon studied for a Bachelor of Arts, with a double major in Sociology and Media, Film and Television.
