Eldest grandchild, oldest of five children with a single parent and the first in her entire family to make it to Yr 12, let alone to be progressing to tertiary study, Sierra knows what it is to be a role model - and a good one at that. "I am determined on setting a new standard for younger generations in my family as well as being a role model for them to look up to," says this driven young lady.
Sierra has a strong awareness of being a positive impact on others. She enjoyed stepping up into leadership roles at school. She also enjoyed Physics and Calculus and over her years at Southern Cross Campus has often worked ahead of her year level in NCEA subjects.
"We were so impressed by the aspirations, commitment and determination of all the students we met. Sierra demonstrated all these characteristics together with a sense of maturity and responsibility to her family, an enthusiasm and keenness to learn, and, a desire to contribute to both our organisation and her community," said Ken Lotu-I'iga, Development Manager for Fletcher Residential.
Sierra initially started a Bachelor of Engineering at The University of Auckland but she changed to a Bachelor of midwifery at the begiining of 2016.
