Sophie Gallagher

Class of: 2003
School: Onehunga High School
Scholarship Partner: Auckland City Mission
Sophie is a person who not only takes on a lot in life, but excels in so many areas. "She has demonstrated a dedication and maturity in her ability to balance the demands placed upon her academically, socially, culturally and vocationally," said Sophie's Yr 10 Dean.

Sophie studied a Bachelor of Communications at AUT, graduating in 2009. There is a definite link, says Sophie, between the work experience she had with Auckland City Mission and the job she took at Christians Against Poverty (CAP) after graduating. "For me, it has most probably kicked off a lifelong trend and outlook on life, demographics and outreach." Sophie's leadership skills were extended through a week-long Rotary Club leadership development programme for 19-26 year olds (RYLA) in 2008.

Sophie worked in London as a product photographer and Personal Assistant to the CEO of ADM Promotionz; an international promotions company wishes to  travel more hoping to spend time journeying through many of the 3rd world countries.

After finishing her Masters she did travel again for a few months and started teaching at Te Papapa Primary School in Auckland in 2016
