The words of her grandfather have helped Tara choose her future path. He likes to say, "Tausi le alofa ma le alofa", which means, "Pay back with love with love". Tara intends to do that by studying medicine so she can help the relatives who have helped her so much.
Tara has already received some experience with the health system through her voluntary work with her youth group vising patients in hospital. She was a student leader at school and served as a liturgy leader and as head musician for school events.
She has achieved excellent academic results, receiving awards for Biology and Chemistry.
"As an able and hardworking young Samoan New Zealander, Tara has the potential to become a much-needed leader and role model in her community, "said Year 13 Dean Richard Brown.
